JJ's Kindergarten Year at Nichols Hills Elementary School

JJ went to Pre-K last year in Anadarko. He loved his teachers and his fellow students. I think he was a little apprehensive about going to OKC to school for Kindergarten.

His first day of school at NHES was while we were in Arizona at the Grand Canyon. He has a uniform at his school. They wear white shirts and navy or khaki colored slacks to school. Here he is on the first day of school.

The first activity that Mike or I went to was Grandparents day. Mike went to school and ate with JJ. I was sick and could not go. Mike even went to the playground with him that day.

Each child is asked to have an adult in their family volunteer 100 hours at the school. Amanda went to JJ's classroom every Monday from 12:30 to 1:00. I tried to go when she could not. I also made flash cards and volunteered at the Rattle Snake Run in March. The kids had a really good time that day. Each child ran around the track 4 times, which is a mile. JJ loved doing this. He had a great day.
Waiting for the Kindergarten Class's turn to run the track.

Running the track.

Getting a check mark for each time around the track... 4 times.

Water and a rest after running a mile.

Line up for refreshments.

What to bye?

The next thing JJ did at school was a school dance.

Amanda and Amara went with him to the dance. They had a good time then too.

In April the Kindergarten class put on a musical program. There are 3 Kindergarten classrooms at NHES. JJ's class dressed up in flashy clothes. He did a great job of singing Broadway Musical Songs. We were all so proud of him.

Waiting to do their part.

The star of the show in our books...JJ.

All of the Kindergarten classes.

Like I said, he was the star.

I took pictures in JJ's classroom when I was there in April and May helping out in the classroom. JJ had 26 in his class.
Waiting in the cafeteria before school to go to class.

Each morning begins with each student sitting on their letter.

Amara loves to visit the classroom and sit with her big brother.

JJ had a good year at school, but he was more than ready for the last day. We picked him up at noon on his last day of school and he and Amara came to our house for the next three days. We had been gone for almost 2 weeks so they were glad to see us.
